by Anita Lobel
In PLAYFUL PIGS FROM A TO Z by Caldecott Honor Winning Anita Lobel when twenty-six little pigs wander out of their pen one day, they find a magical field full of alphabetic delights.
My kids sat down together as I helped them read the names in the book. Logan and Kira took turns announcing the letters on each page. The illustrations are enticing and compliment the story well. The text is fairly simplistic, starting with “Amanda Pig admired an A.” With the use of alliteration, Anita Lobel gives each pig their own letter and action/activity. My kids might be a little too old for this book (ages 6 and 7), but they still enjoyed the family time reading it together. I know this book would be a great addition to my friend’s kindergarten classroom!
