No Ordinary Life by Suzanne Redfearn
Inside the book was a letter from the author, Suzanne Redfearn. She spoke about the world of celebrities. What would happen if you got swept up into their world? Becoming the topic of talk shows, news shows, reality shows…being scrutinized online…would becoming famous be thrilling or terrifying?
Suzanne Redfearn delivers another gripping page-turner in her latest novel, a story about a young mother’s fight to protect her children from the dangerous world of Hollywood.
Faye Martin never expected her husband to abandon her and their three children . . . or that she’d have to struggle every day to make ends meet. So when her four-year-old daughter is discovered through a YouTube video and offered a starring role on a television series, it seems like her prayers have been answered. But when the reality of their new life settles in, Faye realizes that fame and fortune don’t come without a price. In a world where everyone is an actor and every move is scrutinized by millions, it’s impossible to know whom to trust, and Faye finds herself utterly alone in her struggle to save her family.
Emotionally riveting and insightful, NO ORDINARY LIFE is an unforgettable novel about the preciousness of childhood and the difficult choices a mother needs to make in order to protect this fragile time in her children’s lives.
Saving Wonder by Mary Knight
(image below contains an Amazon Affiliate link)
My daughter is 6 and my son is 8, so I requested a book for children 8-12. I had a feeling that the younger books would be too young for my children. Saving Wonder might be a little over their heads right now…but I am excited to read it myself.
Having lost most of his family to coal mining accidents as a little boy, Curley Hines lives with his grandfather in the Appalachian Mountains of Wonder Gap, Kentucky. Ever since Curley can remember, Papaw has been giving him a word each week to learn and live. Papaw says words are Curley’s way out of the holler, even though Curley has no intention of ever leaving.
When a new coal boss takes over the local mining company, life as Curley knows it is turned upside down. Suddenly, his best friend, Jules, is interested in the coal boss’s son, and worse, the mining company threatens to destroy Curley and Papaw’s mountain. Now Curley faces a difficult choice. Does he use his words to speak out against Big Coal and save his mountain, or does he remain silent and save his way of life?
From debut author Mary Knight comes a rich, lyrical, and utterly transporting tale about friendship, the power of words, and the difficult hurdles we must overcome for the people and places we love.
In the box they also threw in a few surprises! I got a pen (it says “Hush Little Baby Suzanne Redfearn In all of us, there is evil, and in some of us, there is good.“), a reusable bag, hot chocolate, and a grape lollipop.
About the owners…they are a sibling team based in Dallas, TX! Each month they search through thousands of new books to select a book for each genre. Everyone who selects the same genre, receives the same book. You can select genres for you and your child, his and hers, just for the kids, or both for you! And don’t worry, you can change your mind at anytime! Our boxes also include exclusive book content such as book plates or a letter from the author, when available, as well as something special, just for you.
