Yeah, I completed my first week of Nutrisystem… and I am proud to say I LOST WEIGHT!!!! Before I go into details about how much weight I lost, let’s chat about why I chose to start Nutrisystem.
I love to eat! I am a huge stress eater, and I know it. I want to eat healthier, but if I see Goldfish sitting in the pantry they typically find their way into my belly. Kid’s snacks are the DEVIL! I have a hard time saying NO. I need snacks that work for me. With Nutrisystem, I am not as hungry thanks to the delicious shakes. During the Turbo Takeoff I got to indulge in 2 shakes a day! (Mind you that now that the Turbo Takeoff is over I only get to have one shake a day…but I do get to treat myself to special desserts.)
Between raising two kids, teaching, and blogging I don’t have a lot of free time to plan healthy meals for myself and my family. I was doing well setting up freezer meals, but when school started that didn’t happen as often as I wanted it to. What I like about Nutrisystem is that everything is labeled and ready to go…and absolutely delicious! Now I just have to let that inspire me so I can mimic meals for my family.
The breakfasts were a little small, but they tasted really good. I wasn’t too worried about being hungry because I knew I was going to get to have a shake during my break at work.
Lunches were pretty filling. My favorite was the White Bean Chicken Chili. It was spicy and super flavorful. I did add a simple salads on most of the days (especially if it was just the bars). Plus I was adding green beans and carrots for my snacks.
Well hello pasta (yes, the pasta dishes were my favorite…especially the ones with Alfredo sauce)! I don’t normally eat pasta because I have always been worried about too many carbs. Thanks to Nutrisystem I now know I can eat pasta if I control my portion size. Again, adding vegetables helped round out my meals.
As you venture on your weight loss journey with Nutrisystem, you are still responsible to add 3 powerfuels (like 1 large egg, 2 oz of lean meat, 1 oz of nuts, etc.), 1 smartcarb (1 slice of whole-grain bread, 1/2 cup of high-fiber cereal, 1/4 of dried fruit, etc.), 4 servings of vegetables, and a minimum of 64 oz of WATER!!!! ***YOU NEED TO KNOW that during the Turbo Takeoff you are NOT supposed to add the powerfuels and smartcarbs… but you DO need to add your 4 servings of vegetables and WATER!!!
This week, I didn’t feel that hungry throughout the day. Stress did get to me a little as I was finishing off report cards, but I was able to find comfort in eating vegetables (instead of Goldfish). Most of the days I was able to drink all 64 oz of my water… however, as a teacher, I really had to pace myself and try to plan when to drink so I could use the restroom during my breaks.
I’m a little nervous to start week #2 because I did so good during the first week. I lost a grand total of 5.4 pounds this week!!!!! I didn’t exercise any more than I normally do (which is walking around campus…approximately 7,000-10,000 steps). This week I think I want to add my fitness video at least 3 times…maybe 5…or at least add an extra walk everyday.
