Let the Car-Crushing, Monster Truck Action Begin!
Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam®
showed the Fresno crowd a ROARING good time!
Are you READY for action?! Do you want to see trucks fly?! Have you ever seen an ATV flip?! Well, the Save Mart Center was filled with Monster Jam fans ready to watch their favorite Monster Jam® Trucks: Grave Digger® driven by Pablo Huffaker, El Toro Loco® driven by Aaron Basl, Monster Energy driven by Damon Bradshaw, Mohawk Warrior® driven by George Balhan, Devastator driven by Mark Schroeder and Shocker driven by Pat Gerber!
I was able to enjoy this fabulous, family event with my husband, kids and father-in-law. We love taking the trip down the mountain to Fresno for these family activities… and Monster Jam impressed and entertained us last night.
The evening started off with the ATV Wars… and California won!!! WOOT! My family loved watching them race around the track. For a novice, it may look easy to race around the track… but in reality those racers have some massive skill. They had to turn hard, watch out for the other racers and try not to flip over! I gasped when two racers wheels locked up together. Yikes!
After the ATV Wars, it was time for the BIG boys to come out and play. It just amazes me how the Monster Trucks fly over those hills. WOW! At times they pop off the hill and are practically jumping vertically into the air. The kids loved hearing the ROAR of the trucks and their eyes widened on each jump. I’ve never seen them so focused. They were completely absorbed into the show.
Note to parents: Make sure you bring ear plugs. Kira and Logan were able to wear their ear plugs throughout the show with out any problems. I bought mine at CVS for less than $4 (for a 10 pair pack). They also offer ear plugs and noise canceling head sets for purchase at the vendors. If I read correctly, they ear plugs were $2 a pair and the head sets were $20 (but don’t quote me on that…I only really paid attention to the cost of the Grave Digger Monster Truck pillow my son “had to” buy… which was $20).
Once the races were over we got to be thrilled by two amazing ATV riders who jumped 75 feet off the ramp to a huge mound of dirt. First of all, just seeing them make the jump was beyond words… but then the tricks made my heart stop. Not once, but twice we saw these riders FLIP the ATV! WOW!
Our favorite part of the evening was the freestyle run. Hearing the trucks roar, watching them leap into the air, crushing the cars below them, and so much more! This is an evening our kids will be talking about for a long time!
Friday Night Results:
George Balhan, driver of Mohawk Warrior made a social media post a few days ago apologizing to the Mohawk Nation for what George thought was a less than stellar showing at the World Finals, and inviting them to Fresno where he wanted to give them what he didn’t in Vegas. And he made good on the promise. George and the Warrior came out swinging, taking the wheelie contest win and then dominating the race action, from the elimination rounds to the UTI Championship. Pablo Huffaker and Grave Digger ended the win steak with an equally impressive freestyle run that was vintage Pablo and patented Grave Digger.
The unfortunate event of the night was Pat Gerber and Shocker burning a hole in a piston taking them out of action for the weekend.
