JCPenney cordially invited the 25 Disney Bloggers to a Pre-Premiere reception in the lower lounge of the El Capitan Theatre. We got to get a close look at the costumes and props from the film.
When I first walked into the El Capitan Theatre, Cinderella‘s beautiful ball gown caught my eye. I couldn’t help but walk straight over to it and day-dream in the moment… oh how it would feel to be Cinderella!
In the entry of El Capitan you will also find a display case (near the Disney Store entrance) filled will other props from the movie. The crystal slipper sat on a pedestal spinning slowly. The “glass” slipper is actually made of Swarovski crystal. It sparkled and shined brilliantly as it turned.
We were escorted downstairs to the lower lounge for food and drinks.
Just outside the lounge they had a lovely display of some of the new Cinderella Collection available exclusively at JCPenney. I can’t wait to go shopping. I know exactly what I am getting my daughter for her birthday!
Inside the lounge were the ball gowns for Lady Tremaine, Dresella, and Anastasia, plus the fairy godmother dress, the prince and Ella’s outfits they wore when they first met, plus other props and sketches from the film.
It was so nice to relax and mingle with the other bloggers. Soon more familiar faces joined us as we chatted about the movie. There was even a young lady there to discuss the costumes with us. She was telling me about the detail that Sandy Powell put into each and every costume. I learned about how the Fairy Godmother dress had LED lights sewing into the costume. I stood there searching for the lights, but never found them (I did see stars, but that wasn’t the lights). She was also telling me that on Lady Tremaine’s ball gown there was a hidden panel of red on the skirt. Now I couldn’t wait to see the movie and spot that touch of fun on the dress.
Cinderella opens in theaters March 13th!

Disclosure: I was invited on an all expense paid Disney press trip in exchange for my honest opinion and coverage of the #CinderellaEvent red carpet premiere, press junket, and movie review. All opinions are my own.
