I am thrilled to announce that Guardians of the Galaxy is finally in theaters everywhere today! I was one of 25 bloggers invited to Los Angeles 2 weeks ago for a Disney/Marvel/ABCFamily Press Event. I felt so lucky to have gotten a chance to get a sneak peek of Guardians of the Galaxy in 3D at the Snow White Theater on the Disney Lot.
Read my interviews with the director & cast:
Guardians of the Galaxy is rated PG-13. So parents, it’s up to you if you want to bring your little ones. My thought is if they have seen other Marvel movies, then this movie is a perfect fit for your child. My kids (ages 5 & 6) are too young, so they will have to watch it when they are older (which won’t be a problem, because this is a MUST OWN movie).
I love action movies… and this movie goes above and beyond action! It’s action-packed, full of humor, and emotional! James Gunn brought these characters to life in an unforgettable movie! You won’t be able to keep your eyes off the screen. And remember… this is a Marvel film, so don’t leave until after all the credits!!!!!
Guardians Of The Galaxy REVIEW
(SPOILER ALERT…this post contains details about the movie, so if you want to be surprised, come back and read after you see the movie.)
The movie starts off on a sad note… in 1988, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is in the hospital with his mother on her deathbed. Peter feels lost and alone when something OUT OF THIS WORLD happens… he is abducted by aliens!
At first, I thought that it was his father who abducts him… but it was actually Yondu. (You find out later in the movie that Yondu was hired to collect Peter from Earth and bring him back to his father, but Yondu had other plans for Peter.)
Since Peter left Earth at such a young age, the 80’s come along with him to outer space. His sole prized possession, that he carries with him everywhere, is his cassette player with a tape that his mother made for him filled with 80’s music (AWESOME MIX VOL. 1). You will be amazed at how smooth Peter (Chris Pratt) moves in this movie. He is a DANCE STAR!
Peter has turned to a life of crime thanks to Yondu. He has been trained to become a thief! The story continues as Peter is on a mission to collect an orb for Yondu, but instead he decides to sell it to a higher bidder. Peter is not the only one looking for the orb. Trouble begins when he tries to sell the orb only to find out Ronan wants it. Ronan is pure EVIL! He is a force you don’t want to mess with, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.
Ronan sends Gamora (Zoe Saldana) to collect the orb. Peter is not only hunted by Gamora, but Rocket, a gun-toting racoon, and Groot (Vin Diesel), a tree-like humanoid. Rocket and Groot are after the bounty set on Peter’s head! Unfortunately things go poorly for them and all four are arrested.
In prison Gamora faces Drax the Destroyer. Drax (Dave Baustia) wants to kill Gamora, but Peter saves her life. They are forced into an uneasy truce. Together they must find a way to break out of prison and save the galaxy.
This group of 5 unlikely friends learn to work together… and in the end are united.
