Flipflop wines was generous to send me 3 bottles to review: Pinot Noir ~ 2010, Cabernet Sauvignon ~ 2009 & Chardonnay ~ 2009.
From camping to 4th of July, flipflop wines were a hit at our family events. Unknown to me, my sister picked up a bottle of flipflop Cabernet Sauvignon for our camping trip last month. I laughed and said, “I have that bottle at home for us to review at 4th of July!” As I have said before, my sister is very fond of the reds…so it was nice to see that she had chosen a wine that I was going to review. Camping + flipflop wine = Happy Campers! Bonus for campers, no need for a bottle opener..this is a twist off cap! LOVE IT! I am not a huge red wine drinker, but I did like the fruity finish and ease of the wine going down my throat. This is a dry wine. Great to pair with steak…or if you are camping, hamburgers!
I opened the bottle Pinor Noir when my mom came up to help us with our coodies! Yes, June was full of germs and sick kids (and sick adults). We needed a glass of wine to relax after cleaning the house from kitchen to the bathroom. So with our flip flops on, we headed outside with a glass of wine and watched the kids run through the sprinklers. Surprisingly, I really liked this red! I think my palette is changing with all these amazing wines I am having the opportunity to try. Just goes to show you that you should try everything a few times and see what you really like. Wine tastings are amazing ways to review the many varieties of wines available. Also, flipflop wines are only $7 a bottle, so you won’t break the bank just by trying a few.
No big surprise…but I really liked the Chardonnay! This Chardonnay is a dryer white wine. Smooth taste, and perfect for the summer…chilled with a nice fresh salad. I knew my sister and mom would prefer the reds, so I saved this bottle for my husband and me. What a nice, refreshing treat for us after the kids fall asleep…curled up on the couch watching a movie with our flipflop wine!
Happy 4th of July!
