When you live in a small town, everything is so close. It’s was nice having a small little commuter car to putt around in for a week. I was fortunate to have the chance to drive the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage. I sort of had a flashback to my high school days. My first car was a Mitsubishi Mirage!!! Let me tell you…the Mirage has come a LONG way!
I’ve always loved smaller cars. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my SUV…but I am a petite woman and the tinier cars seem to fit me better. The Mitsubishi Mirage was a perfect fit for me, however it wasn’t a perfect fit for the mountains. Let me explain…
The Mitsubishi Mirage is only a 3 cylinder engine…which means not a lot of power to drive up the mountains. True most of my drive in town was on fairly flat land, but I took the kids to pick up my friend and his son at their house UP THE MOUNTAIN. There were times I had to put the pedal to the metal and it didn’t quite have the kick I am used to. It was even worse when all 5 of us were sitting in the car. We had to giggle. But just because it wasn’t the perfect car in the mountains doesn’t mean it’s not a fantastic car.
The Mitsubishi Mirage would be a great car for a college student or small family who live on flatter land. It does fit up to 5 people (though I feel 4 is more comfortable)…plus with a 3 cylinder engine, the least amount of weight the better.
Love that this car has 4 doors and a hatchback! My old Mirage was only a 2-door + hatchback. Squeezing into the backseat is NEVER fun…so having 4 doors is AWESOME! When I first looked at the Mirage, I thought to myself there is no way I was going to be able to fit anything into that little trunk. Well, looks can be deceiving.
I was able to fit all of my groceries…the trunk held all of our swim gear…it’s a perfect puddle-jumper car! I adore it!
It did throw me for a loop having the start button on the left side! But hey…I am not going to complain. I love the push start versus a key! It’s nice not having to pull the keys out of my purse to get into the car or to start it. Who ever invented this feature is a genius!
I also enjoyed having all the buttons to the main features so close at hand. Everything was easy to find…though this model didn’t have a navigation system…which is not a big deal since I wasn’t going any where far (plus I can always use my iPhone).
Need to charge your phone? Well the USB port is in the glove box. Not where I thought it was going to be…but at least there is one!
I could talk about this cutie patootie car forever…bottom line is it is a great commuter car for a college student or small family.
This car starts at $16,495.
