Zoom, zoom…it’s time to go for a drive!
Thanks to DriveShop I had the opportunity to test drive a 2016 Mazda3 Grand Touring. This summer I took a trip to Los Angeles and needed an economical vehicle to travel the almost 400 mile round trip. The Mazda3 Grand Touring gets an average of 31 MPH! Who’s ready to go on a road trip with me?
I loved having the navigation system in the Mazda3. The 7″ touch-screen display makes navigation a breeze! Some people may say having a navigation system is not a necessity because most people have iPhones…but let’s be real. It’s illegal to hold your phone while driving. So STOP it! (That made me laugh.) I love that I can set the navigation with my desired destination and just GO. It notifies me if I go too fast (which is nice since the freeways in LA vary from 55 to 65 mph). It also tells me which lane to be in! HELLO! Love it! I’m pretty much an LA native (born and raised in Whittier), but I still don’t always know where the exits are. Sometimes they are on the right, sometimes they merge on the left. Luckily, this little gizmo saved me in the LA traffic!!! I knew which lane to be in and where to go!
While in LA I went to one of the biggest blogging conferences, BlogHer. It was a blast… I had a ton of swag to take home…and I promised two blogger buddies a ride into Hollywood so they could get to their Disney Press Trip! So just imagine 3 bloggers, with suitcases and bags of swag fitting into a compact car.
It was a little like a clown car…but we did it in style!
Are you good at checking your blind spot while driving? I’d like to say I am, but in some vehicles I can’t quite see my blind spot…so having this nifty little feature on the side mirror will definitely cut down on accidents!
The Mazda3 is very sporty. The Soul Red Metallic exterior fit my spunky personality, while the interior made me feel classy. I adored the red stitching on the steering wheel and other key areas. Sometimes it’s the small details that make the car POP!
Even though these was a spot in the center console for my coffee, I really appreciated having a second spot for my water. It’s located just within arms reach (I have short arms, so this worked just fine for me. (Did you notice the red stitching??? LOVE!)
Okay, as a mom I probably wouldn’t choose a light almond interior…but as a modern woman, I love it! Plus during the summer months the lighter interior doesn’t get as hot. (Check out the red stitching!!!!!)
Of course with kids you will NEVER allow them to eat in the back seat with the lighter interior…or at least I wouldn’t! If you do have guests in the back seat, they can pull down the armrest to have a spot for their drink. If you don’t have guests, you can actually put down both seats if you need more storage space (though the trunk holds a decent amount…check the picture above with all the blogger swag and suitcases!). Depending on your needs, you have options for storage with the 60/40 split fold-down rear seat.
Some other amazing perks with this vehicle:
- Rain-sensing windshield wipers
- Keyless entry & push button start
- Rearview back up camera
- Cruise control
