Zoom, zoom…it’s time to go for a drive! Thanks to DriveShop I had the opportunity to test drive a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring FWD. I absolutely LOVE the Mazda CX series! So far I have tested the CX-9 and the CX-3. The CX-5 seems to be the mama of this series. It’s not too big and not too small…it’s just right!
As a mom, I want a car that not only fits the family comfortably…but also holds all the groceries and/or karate gear. The CX-5 is absolutely PERFECT! Logan and Kira’s car seats fit nicely in the back seat. Even though their seats have drink holders, the kids LOVE when a car has a center console. It gives them an extra place for their drinks or snacks. The kids can easily put on their own seat belts and open/close the windows and doors. The only thing that is missing is the DVD players (they are used to the perks of our current SUV). However, if you have an iPad you could get one of those holders to place on the back of the headrest.
The kids were really quite comfortable in the back seat. I am not sure if 3 kids would fit well…but two worked out well. That’s the problem with car seats. They take up so much room.
When it’s time to go shopping…you will have plenty of room for your groceries. I was able to do my monthly Costco and Winco run with room to spare.
This car gets amazing gas mileage. I was able to run around town, drive the 2 hour round trip to Fresno, and the 2 hour round trip into Yosemite… all on a half a tank of gas! On average, you get 29 MPH for combined city/hwy.
Safety comes first when it comes to Mazda! The back up camera is amazing. It warns you when cars are in your blind spot or close to the rear of the car. PLUS the care received 5 stars from the government for side crash test on the front seat and the rear seat, and 4 stars for rollovers. I felt like my kids were completely safe and I would totally recommend this car to any of my family, friends, and readers.
This vehicle starts at $28,220 MSRP (the car I was driving retails for $32,660). Call your local Mazda dealer to schedule a test drive today!
