Thanks to MomSelect & Disney Parks for allowing me to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration!
In honor of this fun day, I decided to make Kira and Logan new Mickey Ears. I was able to make 2 for less than $4! I actually had enough supplies to make 4, but ran out of time. It’s so simple…you could make them any time! Head over to the nearest Dollar Tree and pick up foam sheets, super glue, and headbands. You could use a hot glue gun, but I left mine in my classroom…so super glue was my second choice.
Start by making a template with cardboard or heavy paper (I found a piece of cardboard stuck in a package). You can use a glass or bowl to make the circle for the ears.
Test your template to make sure the circle is not too big. Mine turned out to have a 3.5″ diameter. When I confirmed the size I added a small rectangle to the edge to act as the loop to go around the headband.
I asked Kira and Logan what color they wanted for their ears…Kira said PINK and Logan wanted yellow. Depending on your comfort level, you can either trace the circles onto the foam or cut around the template. I just folded the foam in half and held the template on the folded edge and cut.
You will need to cut another one before you glue. They look like odd shaped number 8s…but SOON they will be ears!
Next I placed the head band in the center and glued each ear together. The super glue smelled nasty…but by the next day the kids could wear their ears.
Kira and Logan love their new Mickey Ears!
