Schools going to start before you know it…so as a teacher I am already starting to plan and decorate my classroom. I found fun colored Duck Tape at Walmart and had to have them. I didn’t know what I wanted to make with them…but I needed them (ever have that feeling?). Well, it didn’t take long for me to find a craft. I was cleaning out my room and found a bag of black binder clips. Binder clips are amazing, but completely BORING! I decided to give them life with a little color. If you search on Pinterest, you will find tons of Duct Tape craft ideas!
What you need:
- binder clips
- Duct Tape “Ducklings” mini roll
Choose which Duct Tape you want to start with and cut the end so it is straight. Line it up to the edge of the regular sized binder clip and wrap around. Try to cut the Duct Tape as close to the edge of the clip as possible.
For the JUMBO binder clips, you will go across the clip horizontally. Lining up the pattern is a little tricky (and you do waste a small amount of Duct Tape…but keep it, you can use the excess on a different craft). Continue until the clip is covered.
Here is a quick video:
*NOTE: The super tiny binder clips are not easy for this craft. I recommend the regular size or jumbo sized clips. Also I didn’t really like the Washi Tape for this project. Saving it for another craft!
Now where to keep all the clips you made? Do you have an empty gum container lying around? I did! I used the Duct Tape to cover a gum container!
What you need:
- empty gum container
- Duct Tape “Ducklings” mini rolls
Start the Duct Tape at the ridge of the gum container and go all the way around to the opposite side.
Repeat with a different patterned Duct Tape.
Continue until the entire contain is covered. Use another piece of Duct Tape around the edge of the lip to cover the ends of the Duct Tape. I actually covered the thread of the gum container and was able to screw on the lid over the Duct Tape.
Now you need to cover the top. I started in the middle, but I would recommend starting on the edge.
When you are done, fill it up with your regular sized binder clips!
Do you like this craft? I’d love to see what you have created!
