Yesterday my baby boy started kindergarten! Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was stuck in the hospital for 13 weeks (yes… 13 weeks of bed rest in the hospital… away from home… stuck to monitors… oh the memories of my first pregnancy).
We live so close to the elementary school, so we decided to walk. Mommy, Kira, Daddy and Logan… hand-in-hand, we walked our little man to his first day at his new school.
You could feel his excitement brew as we inched closer to the school. I think he was excited, yet scared of the new environment. By the time we got to his classroom door, he began to show his fear of the unknown… he started to hide behind Daddy’s legs and become very clingy. (Which is completely understandable for a 4 year-old… turning 5 at the end of September.)
Together we explored his new classroom… found his cubby, located his seat, spotted the LEGO table (Logan immediately went up to his teacher and asked if he could play… but was disappointed when she said no.)… so many colors, so many new faces… then, it was time for Mommy, Daddy and Kira to leave. We kissed him good-bye and reminded him that we would be picking him up later that day.
At 2:20, we picked up a very happy kindergartener! He has a successful 1st day of school!
